The Southern Theatre is near the Seven Corners area of the West Bank  in Minneapolis. It is located on 1420 Washington Ave. S near the cross street of 15th Ave. S.

The theatre has been active since 1910 and was first run by Swedish immigrants who wanted to create a “sister” theatre to the original, Södra Teatern (Southern Theatre), in Stockholm, Sweden.  Currently, The Southern Theatre  rents out its space to performance organizations across the Twin Cities.

Within the theatre itself is a replica of the arch that can be found in the original Swedish Theatre. The arch has stayed with the theatre since 1910, though other renovations have taken place, and has given performances a unique ambiance. Performances vary throughout the year, however the theatre hosts a variety of entertainment from dance, music, and theatre.
