Augsburg University Hoversten Chapel

Monday through Friday, while classes are in session, Campus Ministry offers Sabbath rest through morning chapel in Hoversten Chapel, virtual worship and podcasts. On Monday, we will hold space in the chapel at 10:40 – 11:00 am for Centering Prayer: Healing, Justice and Hope, and we have live chapel in Hoversten Chapel, Foss Center on Tuesday and Thursday, 11:30 – 11:50 am, and on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:40 – 11:00 am. Chapel services are recorded and are available on the Campus Ministry YouTube Channel.

Brian Coyle Center


Brian Coyle Community Center offers residents an institutional-size kitchen six multi-purpose meeting rooms and a food shelf. The center is named after the late Brian J. Coyle former vice president of the Minneapolis City Council. In addition to the programs run by Pillsbury United Communities a number of other organizations operate out of the Coyle Center including the Confederation of Somali Community in Minnesota Emerge Community Development and Pan African Legal Aid.

Cedar Riverside Adult Education Collaborative

The Cedar Riverside Adult Education Collaborative (CRAEC) is a collaboration between three partner agencies—Riverside Plaza Tenants’ Association (RPTA), Brian Coyle Community Center, and Minneapolis Adult Basic Education. Since 2000, these three agencies have pooled resources and worked jointly to provide education opportunities to adult immigrants and refugees living in and around the Cedar Riverside neighborhood.

Dar Al-Hijrah Riverside Islamic Center

An Islamic cultural center and mosque serving the local and national community. The Islamic Civic Society of America (ICSA) demonstrates the compatibility between Islamic and Civic principles in a democratic society with membership services. Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque offers Islamic study classes five daily prayers Friday prayers eid prayers Ramadan nightly prayers and many more spiritual service programs.

Ka Joog

Ka Joog is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota. Our mission is to answer those questions and realize every one of those dreams and many more. We initiated this non-profit organization in early 2008 in the hope that it would carry our mission and vision. Our intention is to provide meaningful activities for Somali youth in Minnesota in order to build a strong support network for their future.

Trinity Lutheran Congregation

A progressive community of faith actively engaged in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood. Its current mission is to help break down the walls of racism sexuality ethnic origin economic status and religion. In 1966 Trinity lost its building to Interstate 94 construction. The mission-minded congregation voted to use its resources in active outreach to the Cedar-Riverside community rather than investing in a new church building. As they say the lack of conventional church walls “frees us to tear down walls that can separate us from effective service to God and each other.”

The University of Minnesota is one of the most comprehensive public universities in the world. It is both the state’s land-grant university and its flagship research institution. Focused on becoming one of the top three public research universities in the world the U of M offers 143 different degree programs and thousands of engaging challenging courses. Its West Bank campus is home to most social sciences and the arts in addition to arts venues Rarig Center Ted Mann the Nash Gallery and Barbara Barker Center for Dance.
