Bullwinkle’s Saloon and Fun Bar
Located on the Seven Corners intersection of the West Bank neighborhood, Bullwinkle’s Saloon and Fun Bar, formerly just Bullwinkle’s Saloon, has been a go-to destination for college students for many years. Now under new ownership, Bullwinkle’s has recently re-opened with a revived menu, drink specials, live music, and a variety of themed evenings.
My friend and I decided to pop into Bullwinkle’s late one afternoon to check out their happy hour and new food menu. Now, full disclosure, neither my friend nor myself had ever been to Bullwinkle’s when it was under the previous ownership or even while we were in college, so we had nothing to compare it to, but the updated version has plenty of comfortable, worn-in charm one would expect from a casual neighborhood bar.
It was particularly quiet that day but we admittedly arrived at an odd hour (somewhere between end of the work day but slightly before happy hour gets revved up). We grabbed a seat in one of the high back booths and were given a friendly greeting as well as a food menu. The modest menu has a variety of appetizers, sandwiches and burgers. They also have a nice array of beers available on tap, including some local brews, if you’re looking for something cold to wash down your meal.
Since it was their Taco Tuesday we obviously had to try the tacos. We ordered two tacos, which were stuffed with chicken, fresh onions, cilantro, a dash of cheese, and some kind of delicious tangy green sauce. At only $3 per taco, this is definitely a great option for a quick and easy bite to eat.
So, if you’re looking for a casual lunch spot or a fun place to hang out in the evening to grab a beer and a late night meal, check out the revamped Bullwinkle’s Saloon and Fun Bar!
